Our Story

Our firm is built on the philosophy of life as a climb toward a summit. This ascent, or process of moving towards one’s goals, takes months—perhaps years --of preparation. It demands discipline and perseverance.

To reach a summit, climbers must have emotional and intellectual resilience—the ability to respond to events that cannot be anticipated. One’s response to crises and contingencies often determines whether one will reach the top or need to turn back.

The climb to the summit is an image that captures 7Summit’s outlook on reward and risk: we aim high, we prepare well to limit risk and we respond to unknowable unknowns with a resilience that allows for recovery.

When I was a young man, my mother successfully traded the stock market. Through discussion with my father, a research scientist at Amgen, she had some understanding of the nascent biotech industry and soon became an authority on the business of biotech and technology. She also knew that stocks were not “all season” and helped me to develop a sense of timing, of when to be “in” and when to be “out.”

To educate my innate talent for timing, I majored in Economics at UCLA, where I was selected as a Riordan Fellow. I gained the CFP® designation, thereby mastering the concepts of financial planning and the integration of income tax, estate, retirement and insurance planning in order to offer complete investment management services. I entered the asset management business as a servicing broker at E*TRADE, followed by a position as asset manager at KAM Advisors.

In 2014, I established 7Summit Advisors™, a firm grounded in formal training and hard won experience. We are dedicated to guiding investors along on their own path to the summit.
